Barry-Eaton District Health Department Announces Mask MandateOn Sept. 17, the Barry-Eaton District Health Department announced that beginning on Wednesday, September 22, all students, school staff, and visitors shall wear masks while in school buildings regardless of vaccination status. The health order mandate applies to 4 year-olds to 12th grade in Barry and Eaton County schools. At the bottom of this email are links to the press release and a PowerPoint presentation from the health department explaining the mandate.
In the first two weeks of school, DKS has had four students test positive for COVID and one staff member. We have had four additional students quarantined as a result of being identified as a close contact. The school district has shared this information with BEDHD. In BEDHD's PowerPoint below, they include the information they used in deciding to mandate masks.
Please understand that the school district is legally required to follow these mandates or could face shutdown, fines, or arrest. If you do not agree with these mandates, please contact BEDHD. Again, the school district does not have the authority to overturn or change these mandates.
