Dear Delton Kellogg Families,
I hope this message finds you and your family well as we begin a new school year.
I want to provide you with an important update regarding student meals for the 2025–26 school year. Due to ongoing uncertainties with the Michigan state and federal budgets, we are unable at this time to guarantee that free student lunches will be available for the entire school year.
That said, I am pleased to share that Delton Kellogg Schools will continue to provide free breakfast and lunch for all students through January 1, 2026. This ensures that every child has access to healthy meals for at least the first part of the school year.
As we approach December, we hope to have more information about the funding and will notify families at that time if we must transition to charging for lunches starting in January. Our goal is to give families as much time as possible to prepare should any changes be necessary.
We remain committed to supporting our students’ health and well-being, and we will continue advocating for resources that make meals accessible to all. We ask our families to please advocate with our state legislators and request that they continue to support the Michigan Meals program. In addition, we are again asking parents to fill out the Education and Nutrition benefit form that will be sent home to all parents in back to school packets.
Thank you for your understanding, and for your continued partnership with Delton Kellogg Schools.
Sincerely,
Jeremy Wright Tiffany Haines
Superintendent Food Service
