Dear Delton Kellogg Families,
We understand that this will come as an inconvenience, and we do apologize, but we are writing to inform you that we will be calling a half-day of school on Monday, April 8th. We will be following our regular half-day schedule. This decision has been made in light of the upcoming solar eclipse, with a peak time expected around 3:11 pm. Our number one priority is student safety, therefore we made the decision to NOT have our buses running their PM routes during the peak of the eclipse. Our number one concern was distracted drivers on the road and students exiting the bus safely. Ensuring the safety and well-being of our students and staff is our top priority and we will always err on the side of caution.
Additionally, while witnessing this natural phenomenon can be an exciting and educational experience, viewing the eclipse without proper eye protection can be harmful. By ending school early, we aim to allow everyone the opportunity to safely observe the eclipse with their families.
As it is the first day back after spring break, it is important for us to reach our 75% attendance threshold so as not to have a makeup school day in June. Thank you for your understanding and support. If you have any questions or concerns, please contact central office.
A few more notes:
DK Daycare (Panther Clubhouse) will be open for the half-day
Spring athletic coaches will communicate with their teams the plan for Monday

DK Panther Spring Sports Parents, Guardians, and Host Families,
The Athletic Department is trying something new this Spring and we cordially invite you to attend our first Meet the Team Night at DK. The event will take place in the HS gymnasium on Monday, March 18th at 5:00 pm and is open to all High School parents, guardians, and/or Host Families whose student-athlete (s) will be competing this Spring for the Panthers of DKHS.
This event will take the place of the traditional parent preseason meetings held by individual sports and coaches.
We will gather in the main gym to cover any Athletic Department-related information, have handouts to share, and answer any questions you may have. Participation fees and signed paperwork can be turned in as well. Sort of a one-stop shop. We will introduce the coaching staff, and their teams, and then break out into separate team meetings to cover any specific team-related items.
The whole event should last no longer than an hour. We highly encourage you to attend on behalf of your student-athlete (s) and their teams. Should be a fun first go around with this type of event.
If you have any questions, please contact the Athletic Office at 269 623-1524.
On another note, ATTENTION GIRLS HOOP FAMILIES, we will be hosting our end-of-the-season banquet on Monday, right after the Meet the Team Night, to hopefully avoid you having to take multiple trips. Food and drinks will be provided as we celebrate the members of the 2023-24 girls basketball program.
